In celebration of the genius and creativity behind music videos, the MTV Video Music Awards is an award show that acknowledges the best in the music video medium.
This year’s nomination contains a category dedicated to Afrobeats and Nigerian artists top the list. Nominees for The Best Afrobeats Song category are Ayra Starr’s “Rush”, Burna Boy’s “It’s Plenty”, Davido’s “Unavailable” featuring Musa Keys, Fireboy DML’s “Bandana” featuring Asake, Libianca’s “People”, Rema’s “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez, and Wizkid’s “2Sugar” featuring Ayra Starr.
Rema’s “Calm Down” also earns nomination for Collaboration of the Year and Song of Year.
The award show will be held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Tuesday September 12,2023.
