Tems Makes Times 100 Next List.

Every year, TIME publishes the TIME 100 Next List, a list that recognizes 100 rising stars from across various industries business, industry, entertainment, sports, politics, science and health. Nigerian R&B sensation Tems makes the 2023 list alongside America music producer, Metro Booming, Ice Spice, Kali Uchis, Hailey Bieber, Peso Pluma and others.

Tems made headlines after she was featured on WizKid’s 2020 single “Essence” which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, same year she featured on the song” Fountains “by Drake.

In 2022, Tems’ vocals from her song Higher were sampled by Future on his single “Wait For U” featuring Drake, the song debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making Tems the first African artist to debut at number one and the second Nigerian artist to top the chart, the song also earned her a Grammy award for Best Melodic Rap Performance . The cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry” which is a Black Panther Wakanda Forever soundtrack was also done by Tems in July 2022.

Going down memory lane, in 2021 during her interview Tems talks about what inspires her song writing process;

“There’s always a story behind my songs. They’re mostly my thoughts. The process is really just me experiencing things and then me expressing how I feel about these experiences. And that’s mostly what I’ve done for this EP.”

Tems is one of the leading Afrobeats queen in Nigeria, there are news circulating about her upcoming debut album and we cannot wait to give it a listen.
