Neco Releases 2023 Examination Results.

The National Examination Council has released the 2023 internal Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, with a record of 61.60% of candidates securing five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics. This was revealed by the Registrar and Chief Executive officer of Neco, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi at a press briefing held on Tuesday 10th October, 2023.

1,196,985 candidates, including 616,398 males and 580,587 females, participated in the examinations. Additionally, 1,543 candidates with special needs also took part in the examination.

Of these candidates, 737,308, representing 61.60%, managed to secure five credits and above. Furthermore, 1,013,611 candidates, equivalent to 84.68%, achieved five credits irrespective of English and Mathematics.

93 schools however have been accused of engaging in mass examination malpractice. Professor Dantani asserted that strict actions will be taken against those schools who participated in this crime. Such schools, will be summoned to the council for a thorough discussion, after which appropriate sanctions will be dished out. 52 supervisors were also listed out for blocklisting due to their poor supervision, aiding and abetting during the examination.
