In a recent interview conducted on News Central TV, Omoyele Sowore explicitly implicated Akeredolu’s wife and extended family members, alleging their involvement in the untimely demise of the late governor. Sowore went on to assert that there were deliberate attempts to exploit Governor Akeredolu’s deteriorating health condition for personal gains.
Despite Akeredolu’s expressed wish to be taken to his hometown for repose during his health challenges, Sowore claimed that the governor’s wife, brothers, and other family members orchestrated his return from Germany to Nigeria against his explicit desires. Sowore suggested that this orchestrated return had a specific intention – to leverage the governor’s physical presence to facilitate the removal of Lucky Aiyedatiwa from his office.
“In saner climes, those behind Akeredolu’s death will be prosecuted. You can’t hasten the death of somebody and get away with it,” Sowore asserted.
The unfortunate passing of Governor Akeredolu was officially confirmed by the Ondo State Government on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. According to Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, Akeredolu succumbed to complications arising from a prolonged battle with prostate cancer while undergoing medical treatment in Germany.
