Cross River Governor Bassey Otu Assures Support to Family of Fallen Heroes.

In commemoration of the nation’s fallen heroes for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State assured families of the county’s fallen heroes of the state government’s support during a service at the Presbyterian Church, Hope Waddell Parish.

Expressed by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, the governor noted that Nigeria has attained its present status due to the sacrifices and ultimate sacrifices made by certain individuals.

I believe we should not allow their toil to go in vain; we stand by you and are ready to offer support whenever needed; it is our commitment that no family is left alone in the face of adversity.

“Far beyond this ceremony, we will support the widows and legion,” the governor said.

He praised the dedication of security personnel in addressing state insecurity, encouraging them to persist in their efforts for peace in both the state and the nation.

Most Rev. Ekpenyong Akpanika, the Prelate of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, underscored the significance of national sacrifice during the Armed Forces Remembrance celebrations, urging Nigerians to contemplate its meaning and importance for the nation’s well-being.

According to him, “this service affords us the opportunity to reflect and seek peaceful ways of living with members of the society.

“No matter what we are passing through, victory is sure, we will not labour in vain.”
