According to Nigerian actress Carolyna Hutchings, she intends to sue singer Oritsefemi for claiming she was married to the late Tagbo Umeike in 2017.
Hutchings threatened to take legal action through her publicist, Bodex Hungbo, in response to Oritsefemi’s remarks from an interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast.
Oritsefemi asserted in the interview that Hutchings had wed Davido’s late buddy Tagbo Umeike and that she had convinced him to wed Nabila, his then-girlfriend who is now his wife.
In response to Oritsefemi’s accusations after the widely shared interview, Hungbo clarified that Hutchings had only been lawfully wed to her ex-husband, with whom she has three children.
“This is to address the attempt to defame our client, Dr. Carolyna Danjuma Hutchings, via a concerted effort by an unscrupulous individual known as Mr. Oritsefemi,” the statement read. “Several unsavory stories have emerged recently about this individual spreading false stories to cast aspersions on Dr. Carolyna Danjuma Hutchings’s personality, and we are not leaving this unturned. For clarification, Dr. Carolyna Danjuma Hutchings has never been married to anyone other than her ex-husband, Chief Barrister Musa Danjuma.”
The statement also highlighted their need to see documentation of Hutchings’s purported marriage to Tagbo and revealed Hutchings’s decision to take Oritsefemi to court over his remarks.
“Finally, our legal team will be taking legal action against Mr. Oritsefemi because of these despicable claims made by him against our focused and amiable client, Dr. Carolyna Danjuma Hutchings. We are interested in the said civil marriage certificate and pictures, including all evidence, to prove his claims beyond a reasonable doubt, which he boldly made on a recent podcast show.”
It is noteworthy to mention that Hutchings was married to Chief Barrister Musa Danjuma from 2007 until their separation, and the two got divorced in 2016.
