Celebrity Of The Month.

“Mr Money With the Vibe”, YBNL signee is our celebrity of the month of August. Asake is most definitely a force to reckon with, he came like a storm, swept us off our feet and has kept us dancing to every tune he has dropped. His genre of music includes Afrobeats, Fuji, Afro fusion, Afropop and Amapiano.

Him being on every Nigerian’s top 10 list isn’t surprising this might be as a result of his non-apologetic use of the Yoruba language, beats that makes you shake your body, nod your head, move your legs, and creative music videos. Asake deserves every flowers he has gotten till now and more.

This month, Asake made the list of this year’s Headies performance list, this is after he earned the highest nominations. He received eight nominations becoming the first artist to receive so many nominations this early in his career. He was nominated for Best Male Artiste of the Year, Next Rated , Best Collaboration, Digital Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Street Hop Artist and Headies Viewers Choice Award.

Recently, for the inaugural edition of the Trace Awards 2023, Asake bagged three nominations along side other Nigerian artists. He was nominated for Best Male Artiste, Best African Artiste( Anglophone) and Best Album of the Year.

On August 20,2023 Asake performed at his sold out concert at the O2 Arena in London. The show kick-started with his dramatic entrance when he descended from a helicopter. He performed songs off his debut album “Mr Money”, and also hits from his latest album.

Asake has lighted a whole new path to Nigerian music and created his own niche, his consistency with using his indigenous language regardless of the criticism and fear of not reaching a global audience needs to be applauded. His recent feat at the O2 Arena that saw audiences from different walks of life, goes a long way to prove that our indigenous languages do not limit Afrobeats.
