Davido files lawsuit against Sophia Momodu, claiming full custody of his first child, Imade.

The mother of David Adeleke’s first child, Imade, Sophia Momodu, has been sued by the multi-award-winning musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, to get custody of their daughter.

Davido requests “an order granting joint custody of Miss Imade Adeleke to the applicant” in an initial motion that was submitted to the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024 by his attorneys, Dr. Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others.

Davido alleged that Sophia Momodu had taken advantage of their daughter in order to obtain significant financial gains from him. He said she routinely demanded unreasonable things from him and turned down his offers of reasonable adjustments.

As for the complaints listed in the petition, Davido said that he had diligently complied with his duties to Imade.

It was purported that this covered the costs of her schooling, lodging, and other essentials for her health.

He claimed that even though they had given Sophia Momodu a safe place to live and cars to meet her transportation needs, she would have wanted to keep getting cash support. She insisted on paying hefty rent and auto maintenance bills.

He continued by claiming that her demands for charges, including those for a nanny and overseas vacation, were exorbitant and not in the child’s best interests.

Davido said that Sophia Momodu’s irrational behavior had caused him severe emotional pain and that this was the basis for his great concern in his statement to the court.

He listed the other purported demands made by Sophia Momodu, “The respondent, among others, is demanding that I should pay the nanny she hired the sum of $800 per month, and that the total sum of $19,600 per annum be paid as a lump sum.”
