Disney Sci-fi Animated Series IWAJU is coming To Your Screens.

Disney Animations, in collaboration with Kugali Media, has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi animated series Iwaju, scheduled to premiere later this month.

Penned by Adeola Hudson and Halima Hudson, the narrative unfolds in a futuristic Nigeria, centering on Tola, a young woman originating from a prosperous island who embarks on an exploratory journey to Lagos alongside her companion, Kole. Amid their exploration, they become ensnared in the perilous schemes of Bode, a tech innovator entrenched in criminal activities. However, Tola’s father, aunt, and her technological companion, Otin, intervene when situations escalate.

Helmed by Hamid Ibrahim, Toluwalakin Olowofoyeko, and Ziki Nelson, who also serves as the director, Iwaju showcases a diverse ensemble cast of Nigerian talents, including Nigerian-American actors Dayo Okeniyi and Simisola Gbadamosi, alongside industry veterans like Femi Branch and Siji Soetan. Additionally, British-Nigerian actress Weruche Opia, Shaffy Bello, Obi Maduegbuna, Kehinde Bankole, Chioma Omeruah, Bisola Ayeiola, Tosin Oshinaike, and Lala Akindoju, who also serves as the casting director, contribute to the series.

The creators revealed in a statement back in 2022 that Iwaju delves into the social dynamics of African society, drawing inspiration from the contrast between the affluent island dwellers of Lagos and the predominantly impoverished mainland inhabitants. After three years of production and eager anticipation from viewers, the series is set to debut.

All episodes of the series will be accessible starting February 28, 2024.
