This article is to help us achieve our daily makeup look at a fair rate while still slaying, so we will be looking at various ways to interchange things that are more affordable and simple to switch with. I know this list seems like a lot, but I do my daily makeup look with about 60-70% of what is on this list, and it turns out pretty well.

We all have different skin types and face shapes, which means that different things work for different people. As a beginner, it is advised to try watching as many videos as you can and determine what you feel is appropriate for your face.

Everyone has their style, so this is a lovely approach to figure out what works for you. Keep in mind that this post can be helpful if you’re working with a limited spending plan.

We know the situation of things in Nigeria and not everyone will have enough to spare or to let go for just makeup kits,

This article will include items that may be substituted or items that are not necessary.

The main thing your makeup should have is your foundation for flawless skin, For times you want a look that stands out from your normal face but is still you, your foundation is one of the most important components of your makeup.

If you have different skin conditions like hyperpigmentation, eczema, uneven skin tone, acne, or texture, the foundation is your go-to because it enables us to cover up our naturally imperfect skin. I need to make emphasis on this,

No one has flawless skin; there’s always an imperfection or another, and that’s normal. We are exposed to various environmental factors, including climates, which all influence how our skin looks. This is nothing to be ashamed of, but using makeup can help you feel more at ease and less self-conscious about these things.

Let’s get started with the steps; I’ll talk about the necessities and my strategy, so you can choose what works best for you.

Given that I have oily skin, skin prepping, which involves keeping your skin adequately moisturized and healthy underneath the cosmetics that will be applied, is quite challenging for me.

I try to avoid this because my skin tends to get greasy very easily and it always has an impact on how my makeup turns out in the end, especially when I am working with a small budget.

If it’s not in your budget or you don’t have normal or dry skin, you can skip this entire process. Always remember to wash or wipe off your face before beginning the process so that you can start with a clean canvas (face). So getting into the details without much delay:

Primer

This is the first product to be applied to your face before foundation, and it is especially recommended for people with oily skin, like myself. It is the best skin prep for oily skin on a budget, and there are many different price ranges and products available, so look for what fits within your budget also check for the highly recommended products, and most importantly, always make sure to read reviews.

Eyebrow pencil

You must have shaped your brows to the desirable shape, which requires little to no pencil work nowadays, no one goes all out with their pencils depending on how you like your brows; it is preferable to only fill in your brows to give them a more natural look.

If you don’t have enough in your allocated budget for a brow filler, you can just outline your desired brows and fill it in with fewer pencil strokes for a more natural appearance.

The next step is to conceal your brows. To properly highlight your brows, you usually use a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone or foundation color. If you’re on a budget, like myself, I’ll advise using your foundation for this because it still serves the same purpose of concealing. You can also use one of the small brushes in your brush set to apply setting powder, a lighter shade of powder from your powder palette, or your normal powder under your brow to highlight and give a nice finish, or rather just stick with your concealer, remember it’s whatever works for you.

Foundation

As I mentioned earlier, everyone has different preferences for how they use or apply makeup. Some people apply their foundation before their brows, but I prefer to do mine after because I don’t want it to grease out more quickly. You apply your foundation with a foundation foam or a foundation brush, depending on which one is more comfortable for you.

You do not need a lot of foundation to achieve full coverage; just be sure to use the necessary amount and apply it properly. just be sure to use the necessary amount and dab away, do not smear the foundation as you ought to dab it into the skin for proper coverage. If you’re using a foundation sponge, it is advisable to infuse inside water and squeeze it out before application as this helps the sponge swell to not absorb the foundation and results in less waste of makeup product.  Use your setting spray once you’re certain the foundation has been applied evenly, then wait for it to dry.

Eye Shadow

I always use one of the small brushes suitable for shadow application to go ahead and apply whatever shade I want to use shortly after placing a small amount of powder on my eye crease. When purchasing a shadow palette, be sure to purchase a neutral one since it will be used frequently. Keep in mind that the objective is to look as natural as possible while wearing makeup.

Eyeliner

Depending on your liking, eyeliners come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Liquid (wet), gel, and pencil liners, all produce effective results, but wet and gel liners notably aid in creating the precise, sharp angles needed to achieve. The pencil liner works best for lining the undereye area.

Eyelashes/Mascara

Depending on your budget and desired results, eyelashes, and mascara can be used interchangeably. You can either use ready-made lashes or properly coat your natural lashes with your preferred type of mascara to achieve the long lash effect. Either way, you can’t go wrong with either option.

Concealer

This is used for the contour effect and to conceal blemishes that foundation can’t handle. It is typically applied under the eyes, on the nose, on the chin, and in the middle of the forehead. Depending on the type of contouring you want, there are various ways to do this; therefore, watch enough tutorial videos and experiment with different techniques until you find what works for you. You need two tones of concealer. the darker shade, and the lighter shade

The deeper shade is typically put over the hollow where your cheeks constrict or beneath the cheekbone. Your powder palette can also be used in place of this because it offers a variety of colors that can be used for various effects.

Setting Powder

We’re making efforts to adhere to a budget, so it’s better to use a powder palette or a powder shade for a white or light person depending on your skin tone instead of setting powder, which is a bit more cost-effective and cannot be found for less than 5,000 naira and a good one at that. Setting powder is applied on the areas with the lighter shade of pro concealer, especially under the eyes. I typically use the latter, and it continues to function flawlessly.

It’s advisable to reapply your setting spray after using the setting powder.

Blush/Bronzer

This depends on you, it isn’t really necessary if you’re going for a natural look or an everyday appearance. However, blush does a good job of bringing color and life to your cheeks. There are three main shades of blush: pink, red, and orange; choose the one that looks best on you based on the color of your skin and the look you’re going for.

Next, proceed with the final section which is your lips.

Lip Liner

Different makeup techniques can be used to line the lips, but since we’re on a budget, we stick with the traditional method: an eyebrow pencil. It always works and you can change it up by using different colors; you can get about 3 to 4 colors of your preference.

Lipstick

This is typically placed after lip liner, depending on how prominent you want it to be. Go with the flow sis.

Lip gloss

This is optional, however after many years of wearing makeup, I always completely cover my lips in gloss after using lip liner and lipstick. This transforms my lip from a 10 to a solid 100

The final step is applying setting spray after using powder and a powder brush to set everything in place, including your neck.

To highlight how all the factors listed at the beginning of this article come into play, keep in mind that I’m just showing you how I get my makeup done. Therefore, do what works for you, make substitutions where possible, and slay on a budget without feeling stressed.
