Funke Akindele’s film ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ Has Made A Remarkable Start At The Box Office, Raking In An Impressive ₦122.7 million.

Funke Akindele’s latest movie, A Tribe Called Judah, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Nollywood film to earn ₦113 million during its debut weekend in cinemas, beginning December 15, 2023.

Taking into consideration the preliminary screenings held prior to the official opening day, the drama, distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, achieved an impressive total box office earnings of ₦122.7 million.

The groundbreaking film unfolds the narrative of a group of brothers compelled to navigate the complexities of a criminal existence in order to rescue their mother. This compelling tale resonated so profoundly that it garnered a remarkable total of 34,996 cinema admissions, encompassing both the advanced screenings and the official release.

Should this pattern persist, “A Tribe Called Judah” has the potential to outperform “Battle on Buka Street,” another creation by Akindele. If achieved, this feat would elevate Akindele to the pinnacle of the highest-grossing Nigerian films, currently held by “Battle on Buka Street” with a total of 668.4 million naira. Notably, Akindele’s “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” presently holds the second position, having accrued a total of N636.1 million.
