Kogi Election: Dino Melaye Alleges Deliberate Allocation of Votes By Opposition.

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, the residents of Kogi State exercised their right to vote, determining the candidate who will manage the state’s resources for the upcoming four years.

The three most popular contenders for the seat were Usman Ododo, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Murtala Ajaka from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Dino Melaye, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

After the final collation of results, Usman Ododo of the APC emerged as the winner with 446,237 votes. The SDP candidate secured 259,052 votes, securing the second position, while Dino Melaye came third with 46,362 votes.

During on Monday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today , Senator Melaye claimed that opposition parties convened a meeting, asserting that there was an agreement not to allow him to attain the second position due to perceived risks.

He contends that an election did not take place, instead, votes were allocated. The winning candidate is not the voice of the people but a predetermined winner.

Also, during the interview, he stated that his refusal to cast a vote during the election does not affect the overall election process and the result. In his words ;

“The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status. People win elections in prison.”
