To improve access to Lagos State laws, the Lagos State Law Reform Commission held a workshop to utilize Artificial Intelligence for translating the laws into Yoruba.
Gawat Jubril, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this announcement in a statement posted on his X account on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
According to the statement, the three-day workshop aims at “boosting public order and safety, operational efficiency, and improved accessibility and scalability of Lagos State Laws.”
Despite Lagos State being home to millions of people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, Yoruba remains the most widely spoken language. Translating the laws into Yoruba is likely part of the Lagos State Government’s initiative to preserve and promote Yoruba culture.
