Due to purported threats against her life and the life of her son Liam, Wunmi Aloba, wife of the late musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has called on the Nigerian police and other security authorities to assist her.
Wunmi lamented that she had fled her home on Tuesday in search of safety because she was afraid that her father-in-law’s family would kill her and her son in an interview with SaharaReporters on Wednesday.
But while claiming to be in hiding, she remained silent regarding her location.
Wunmi claimed to have been experiencing sleepless nights in response to a recently viral video in which well-known Tiktoker, Adeshina Kabir Hayat, threatened to make her life intolerable.
She added that she had been getting calls from people she didn’t know and who threatened to kill her if she carried on pursuing justice for her late husband.
However, in response to these allegations, Mohbad’s family has denied sending any such death threats to her. The legal team for Mohbad’s family, Hillceetee Partners, challenged the late son’s wife to provide the names and phone numbers of individuals threatening her life, claiming there was not a shred of truth in the accusation.
As reported by Vanguard News, Monisola Odumosu, on behalf of Mohbad’s family’s legal team, signed a statement, saying that “The Aloba Family and some bloggers, including Bukky Jesse, Yeye Kudi Courtroom, and Adeshina Kasbir Hayat (henceforth referred to as our Clients), have come under fire for allegedly pursuing the life of the late Ilerioluwa promise Aloba, also known as Mohbad.”
Furthermore, the legal firm stated that “Mrs. Wunmi Aloba brought up a few important points in the aforementioned publication. To start with, her husband’s family has vowed to kill her and her son, according to her. Mrs Aloba has neglected to provide the public with proof of the threats she received from the Aloba Family, nor has she provided a list of the precise identities of people who made threats against her.”
“Secondly, Mrs. Wunmi Aloba claimed that when she persisted in her pursuit of justice for her late husband, she began to receive death calls from various people threatening to deal with her.
Unfortunately, she omitted from the report the information that the many callers used unknown numbers. She should allow the Nigerian Police to complete their investigation to find the “different people” who have been phoning her now that she has complained to them. When a complainant receives threats over the phone, the Nigerian Police know just what action to take.”
“Thirdly, Mrs. Wunmi Aloba expressed her disappointment that she had not received a response from the Coroner’s Court despite it having been five months since its last session. Our clients find the aforementioned concerns to be equally troubling; if she requires clarification, she should speak with her legal representative about this.”
