Moshood Fattah: A Fast Rising Face In Nollywood.

Moshood Fattah, born on February 26, 1991, in Lagos, Nigeria, hails from a tight-knit Yoruba family rooted in the south west. Raised in a Muslim household, he spent his formative years in a middle-class neighborhood on Lagos’s Mainland. His passion for acting ignited during childhood, participating in school plays and later joining the theatre society in high school, inspired by Nollywood icons.

For education, he attended a reputable private nursery and primary school before progressing to a prestigious public secondary school, graduating with honors in his SSCE. He pursued higher education at the University of Ilorin, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts in 2013, followed by a Master of Arts in Acting from the University of Lagos in 2016.

In his career, Fattah made his mark in theatre while at the University of Ilorin, securing roles in productions and later working as a Performing Artist at Terra Kulture. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Gwanza in the Spirit Of David Musical and continued to excel in theatre, including appearances in Heartbeat. Transitioning to film, he acted in short films and directed two projects, alongside a guest appearance on The Johnsons.

Nominated for The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) Prize For Acting in 2019, Fattah’s career continued to soar with roles in productions like the short film Fishbone alongside Nollywood stars. His breakthrough came in 2022 with his role as Michael in the Netflix Original Drama series Far From Home, followed by a role in Funke Akindele’s film Battle On Buka Street the same year.

Moshood Fattah as Michael in Far From Home

Moshood Fattah was easily everyone’s favourite character in Netflix’s Far From Home (FFH) series, where he portrays Michael, the financial and advisory support for the lead character Ishaya. He played the role of a friend who will stick with you through thick and thin.

In an interview published on the Whatkeptmeup blog, Moshood was asked about his experience playing Michael in Far From Home series

He replied

“Playing Michael was actually challenging because prior to the project I never spoke pidgin, neither had I tried an Igbo accent. Michael’s lines were originally written in English but I felt it wasn’t realistic enough, so I took it on myself to reinterpret his lines. Special thanks to Ujunwa Offor, the script supervisor who monitored my accent, taught me a few words in Igbo and helped me translate new lines to pidgin. Sometimes, minutes before rolling; I would learn the lines, put an accent on it and then ‘throw it all away’ because the emotions of the scene were more important. I lived with anxiety during the shoot because it was a lot to juggle, and the last thing anyone wants is to goof on such a large platform”.

Moshood Fattah as Ademide in Battle on Buka Street

In this movie directed by  Funke Akindele and Tobi Makinde, Moshood plays Ademide, a talented singer who is limited by the sins of his father. Ademide’s father was arrested when he was a kid over the death of a rival. This created a stigma that followed him throughout his growing years.

Moshood Fattah has become a familiar face on Nollywood screens, adeptly portraying his roles with the necessary emotional depth. Fans across Nigeria eagerly anticipate his next appearance on their screens.
