Nigerian Man Becomes President of World Federation of Engineering Organisation.

Former Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) president, Mustafa Shehu was elected as the president of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) yesterday at the general assembly of the world engineering summit held at San Jose, Costa Rica.

The World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) is the international organization for the engineering profession. Founded in 1968, under the auspices of UNESCO, WFEO brings together national engineering institutions from some 100 nations and represents more than 30 million engineers.

Engr MB Shehu before his appointment as president previously served as the president of the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO). Within the WFEO he also served as a chairman of the awards committee, a member of strategic planning, a member of the finance committee, a member of the advisory board for the WFEO president and executive vice president.

He secured an impressive victory of receiving 67 out of 71 votes, making him the first black African to hold this esteemed position, a ground breaking achievement.

In Its official statement on its social media platform, the WFEO congratulates Engr Mustafa acknowledging his contributions to the field of engineering having served in different capacities.

In his policy brief, President-Elect Shehu emphasized the importance of strengthening engineering education and capacity building. He underscored the necessity of producing more engineers with the right skills and stressed the significance of accrediting countries through the International Engineering Alliance.
