Rivers APC Is Extending An Invitation To Wike To Join Their Party.

On Monday, the Rivers chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) encouraged the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to become a member of the party in the state.

The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Tony Okocha, conveyed his satisfaction during a press briefing in Port Harcourt regarding the defection of 27 lawmakers to APC from PDP.

Okocha, who is also the State Representative in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), praised the defectors and clarified that the defection was officially communicated to the party, dispelling any rumors.

While acknowledging the significance of the four remaining members, Okocha denied speculation that the defection aimed to pave the way for Wike to join APC, emphasizing that Wike’s political decisions are unpredictable. He expressed the party’s desire for Wike to join and contribute, citing his assistance in APC’s 2023 victory.

Addressing claims about the lawmakers’ defection being linked to a plan to impeach Gov. Fubara, Okocha dismissed the notion, stating that impeachment is a complex process and the defectors did not disclose such intentions.

Okocha highlighted concerns about governance in the state as shared by the defectors and announced the formal reception of the new APC members on Sunday.
