Senate Confirms 17 Commissioners for National Population Commission.

The Senate has approved 17 out of the 19 individuals nominated by President Bola Tinubu to serve as Commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC).

Their confirmation came after the acceptance of the screening report by the Committee on National Identity Card and Population during the Committee of the Whole session on Wednesday.

Sen. Abdul Ningi, the Chairman of the committee, presented the report, noting that 17 out of the 19 nominees attended the screening. He explained that representatives from Ogun and Ondo states were absent due to recent political developments. Nonetheless, the committee meticulously evaluated the qualifications of the remaining 17 nominees and deemed them suitable for the appointment.

Following this, the Senate confirmed the nominees, including Emmanuel Eke (Abia), Dr. Clifford Zirra (Adamawa), Chidi Ezeoke (Anambra), Isa Buratai (Borno), Alex Ukam (Cross River), Blessyn Brume-Maguha (Delta), and Dr. Jeremiah Ogbonna Nwankwegu (Ebonyi), among others.
