Simi On Why She Named Her Song ‘Men Are Crazy’

The decision to name her song with Tiwa Savage, “Men Are Crazy,” which has been been the subject of debate, was explained by singer Simi.

In an interview with Angela Yee on Way Up, the well-known Nigerian musician talked about the controversy around the song’s title.

To be honest, at the time I had no intention of going on an explanation binge. I thought, ‘They’ll see what I’m trying to communicate when the song comes out,’ Simi said.

Simi acknowledged the response the song’s title sparked on the internet and pointed out that this accidentally increased interest in the song and helped with its marketing plan.

In the interview, Simi also disclosed that the inspiration for her contentious song came from her spouse, Adekunle Gold.

She said, “My husband gave me the idea for my song, ‘Men Are Crazy’. He was like, ‘Babe, how about we do a song and you say men are crazy but I still want one in my bed?’

In particular, Simi mentioned Tiwa’s contribution to the song’s softer message through her lyrics, pointing out that the line “Men are crazy but I still want one in my bed” was originally meant to be more direct than just “men are crazy.”

A month ago, Simi and Tiwa Savage collaborated on the release of “Men are Crazy.”
