All of your favorite celebrities from a variety of well-known industries got together last night for the MET Gala last night. The attendees swarm New York City to showcase creations that are the result of months-long collaborations with renowned brands and designers.
According to editor-in-chief of Vogue Magazine, Anna Wintour, who curates the guest list for the annual event, “The Met Gala, it has always had one mission, and that is to raise money for the important work”.
Every year, visitors follow a theme and strive to execute complex ideas that have an impact outside of the MET as well as draw inspiration from historical clothing.
“We are always interested in trying to reflect a cultural moment and what we feel is happening at the world in any given time,” Wintour said about the invitees.
“Every year is different and we try and curate the guest list in a way that makes sense for whatever the theme of the exhibition is,” Wintour said.
It has served as the backdrop for some of the most significant and talked-about moments in pop culture, such as Lady Gaga’s multifaceted looks at the 2019 Camp-themed gala and Rihanna’s entry in 2015 dressed in a long Chinese cape. Fashion enthusiasts, reviewers, and customers have been closely examining the red carpet for the past ten years in order to gain an understanding of the preparations—and occasionally errors—that go into them through images and films.
